Linda Greene
Linda A. Greene, RN PhD, is President and CEO of IMPACT WITH HOPE. As such, she is devoted to meeting the physical and spiritual needs of others. For more than thirty years, Linda has been coordinating and facilitating teams to communities affected by man-made and natural disasters.
In 1988, Linda coordinated a team with cardiac surgeons that performed the first cardiac bypass surgery in Fuzhou, China. From 1988-1994, Linda coordinated medical teams that not only treated patients, but also taught and educated local doctors to improve patient care.
In 1991, Linda started The Children’s Medical Rehabilitation Program (CMRP), which brings ailing children from impoverished countries to the United States. This project works with hospitals to provide life-saving surgery to children who do not have access to medical care in the countries in which they live. Visiting physicians traveling with a child in the CMRP are also taught and educated to improve patient care in the countries where they live.
In 1996, Linda utilized the CMRP program to respond to the children of Haiti who were being poisoned by contaminated acetaminophen, Unaware of the contaminated substance, Haitian pharmacies mixed diethylene glycol (antifreeze) that was shipped from China to make their own brand of child acetaminophen.
When the USAID office in Haiti contacted Linda, ISOH/IMPACT and partners were mobilized to teach and educated Haitian physicians as well as minister to the victims and their families. ISOH/IMPACT coordinated with USAID, UNICEF, Pan American Health Organization, the World Health Organization, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and a number of other health care institutions to find the cause and treatment for the children affected by the ingestion of the contaminated syrup.
In 2000, The Children’s LightHouse was opened as a result of Linda’s leadership. This facility was opened in Perrysburg, Ohio to provide a sanctuary for children in the CMRP program. Visiting physicians traveling with a child in the CMRP are also taught and educated to improve patient care in the countries where they live. In 2010 the Children’s LightHouse was changed to the Lighthouse to assist adults in crisis.
Under the leadership of Linda Greene, IMPACT WITH HOPE has touched the lives of children, their families and communities who have been affected by Hurricane Mitch in Honduras, the tsunami in Indonesia, Hurricane Katrina in the United States, the recent Haitian and Japanese earthquakes, the drought in Africa and tornadoes that have devastated cities in the United States. IMPACT WITH HOPE has meet the needs of children and their families in more than 60 countries and remains dedicated to reaching out and serving others through networks and partnerships.
